I really enjoyed it! It was like having a nice cozy chat, and when I finished the book I was sad because I missed our chats.
I'm wholly unable to evaluate what the book would be like for people who aren't as fangirl as I am.
I've heard bits and pieces of the audiobook because it was BBC Radio 4's book of the week, and weirdly they don't have as much of the nice cozy chat feel, because it sounds like Eddie is reading from a script (which, of course, he is - I think it's necessary to the audiobook genre to speak more slowly and clearly than he does in stand-up.) When reading the print book, my brain automatically imposes his natural tone and delivery (or, at least, the tone and delivery he uses in stand-up and interview) on the text, but the audiobook forcibly disabuses me of that notion. However, I did notice details in the audiobook that I didn't consciously absorb when reading in print. I don't know if I would have noticed those details if I hadn't read in print first and not retained them from my reading.
